FANTASY PRESS

The Fantasy Press was founded by the surrealist artist
OSCAR MELLOR
in Swinford, Oxfordshire in 1951.
It specialised in individual collections of poetry mainly by students in the Oxford University Colleges & gained a high profile by “discovering” a series of poets destined to become major literary figures. These included Philip Larkin, Elizabeth Jennings, Kingsley Amis, Tom Gunn, etc. as well as the Americans Adrienne Rich, David Stacton, R Selig, etc. Donald Hall also edited a series of anthologies containing original work. Printings of these first or early collections were generally limited to 300 copies. They were hand set and printed by Mellor himself.
All Fantasy Press publications are identified and they are all (save two) in original wraps in very good condition although the staples (where present) may be a little rusty. All other items are also in very good condition and are first British editions - unless otherwise described.

The Catalogue has been divided into author sections for ease of reference.
